Development of the ‘On Luck’ Chinese Nursing Home

By passing Council and consequent public examination, the Chinese Community Social Services Centre has asked the Minister for Planning for a Ministerial Amendment to approve a further 120 beds and 36 car spaces to the On Luck’ Chinese Nursing Home at 177-179 Tindals Road. On Luck is situated within the Green Wedge.

A Special meeting of Manningham Council on 10 February passed a motion endorsing the Council Officers Recommendations which inter alia state that   “The planning process being used for the nursing home sets an undesirable precedent and is considered an inappropriate use of the planning tools” and  “The proposal is clearly inconsistent with Policies 2.1 and 2.4 of the Metropolitan Strategy”.

Full documentation of the 10 February meeting is available on the Manningham Council website.

The issue remains in the hands of the Minister of Planning. WCA opposes further
development of the site, but if it is to be considered then full documentation should
be supplied to Manningham Council to enable public exhibition and comment.
