Ambulance Victoria staff gave a potentially life-saving demonstration of how to properly apply CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) to visitors at the Warrandyte Riverside Market on Saturday 5 April.

Paramedics, Caroline D’Aquino and Nicole Paul were on hand, armed with a dummy body and an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), to demonstrate correct technique. They were also armed with stickers and projects to involve the kids at the market!

They are seen in the photo advising Market Helper, Travis Blunt.

The exercise was part of Northern Health’s Victorian Virtual Emergency Department (VVED) programme. VVED lists a number of free presentations, tailored to help community members improve their health.

They have also given a CPR training session to Warrandyte’s Bicycle Users Group at the Warrandyte Community Association’s premises and are planning appropriate sessions with residents of the Warrandyte Community Retirement Housing Cooperative.

Further information on training sessions is available from Ambulance Victoria at metroregion.OCELCoordinator@ambulance.vic.gov.au
