The Warrandyte Community Association has appealed to the Victorian Government to purchase a rare piece of private land which has become available for sale for the first time in 50 years.
The 5 acre bush block, at 133-139 Webb St, adjoins the Warrandyte State Park on two boundaries and supports habitat suitable for threatened flora and fauna. The undisturbed property is subject to a Bushfire Management Overlay which means substantial clearing would need to be conducted if a house were built, putting at risk native species such as the Brush-tailed Phascogale and the Wine-lipped Spider Orchard.
The Warrandyte Community Association has recognised the vacant block’s ecological significance and has requested the State Government through Parks Victoria purchase the property to be included in the Warrandyte State Park.
